A few days ago we were experiencing a predictable winter then all of a sudden the rains came and the temperature shot up to 15 C (59 degrees American) and floods came. One unfortunate women decided to go around a road barrier advising closure because of flood waters and was washed into the middle of the river and washed away. She managed to escape, but her three year old son didn't.

The pictures are the Grand River crashing through midtown. The river rose to 3 meters (10 feet) above normal in a matter of hours.

That's horrible! It's upper 70's here in Tennessee mostly rain. We don't have to worry about snow melt. The creeks and rivers here get a little high and swift, but luckily there has been no loss of life, that I am aware of.

-----> It was an interesting day in that the ice slabs crashed down the river and onto the highway and also manged to slice a main waterline into the community. As a result 75,000 people were without drinking water albeit for a short time. The other communities down river suffered a lot more with record breaking damage never seen before. I don't care what anyone says - we have a confirmed weather problem everywhere. We are seeing patterns that we have never experienced before.
