I cannot really say that I have tried too many wild edibles. I mean if wild rice counts then I am probably a fanatic but I have the feeling that this is not really the sorts of things that you are talking about. I would be curious to try anything though, and outside of your occasional berries...
This is just something that I have really gotten used to over the years. Even if the forecast calls for perfection and nothing but, I still can see something going wrong and it normally does so I just go ahead and prepare for it anyways. It has backfired, but that seems to be rare.
I would say that there are circumstances that you really cannot understand until you are in them, and I was always the same where I was surprised by the amount of people dying this way but it continues to happen so it must be easier than it seems. Best thing you can do is learn from what you...
This can certainly be a creepy experience, and hopefully you are prepared. I cannot really say that we have had this, but we have sure had some animals creeping around, and the reaction is probably similar.
It is kind of crazy to think about how far this particular technology has come, and it is probably up there with the most if that is a list somewhere. I am sure it will only get better, too.
To each their own is the first thing that really came to mind here, but I can think of a couple of people I know that might enjoy this a little more. It might take a little more of a free spirit type person, which is not really me.
I have never really been able to enjoy biking as much as other people seem to, and I am not really sure why. I guess it just means that I prefer walking and taking it in a little more than the speed aspect of it.
I can definitely not rule anything out when it comes to getting things used, and although this might not be the best thing to do if it means that I can fulfill my needs and save a little money, then why not. I can see myself doing something like this later on.
Well that certainly has the look of something that I would love to have around on a trip. There are many times when the standard pocket knives and small ones just will not do the trick. I do have a similar one, but this one looks like it is much stronger.
Well that is one place that I have never been, one of many, but it sounds like a great area. I really do have much experience in the Northeast in general, so I know that I need to get up around there more...maybe someday.
I am sure I have ever thought of this or thought it was possible, but I am very intrigued now. Does this work? For some reason I would think it would be too wet but maybe I am missing something here.
I think that I much prefer tighter clothes, especially if there is water involved. The more I think about it though, the more I think that maybe I am completely wrong, but everything inside me says the tighter the better.
Little things like holes in the trail are actually a lot more dangerous than many may think, and I have almost had entire trips derailed due to ankle injuries due to things like that. This is of course on top of the other things like wild animals and dangerous plants.
I would have to say that as long as you have some good memories, and for some that might mean photos and all that, then it is good trip. The more memories and better experiences, the better the trip, most likely at least.
Well it certainly depends on the weather and where you are, but something sturdy whether light or heavy is a big time plus. There are some fabrics that are better suited for the outdoors, and I know them when I see them but I am not sure I know them by name.
I remember being shocked to hear that turtles could be dangerous, but it is true. Oddly enough my favorite basketball team is the terrapins, so that always gives me a good laugh. They are something to look out for, but not really around where I am.
This is one that almost certainly goes under-prepared for or not thought of enough. It reminds me of a particular trip in the badlands, where we almost lost a lot of stuff due to a simple error like this.
I have a great pair of boots that I have had for quite some time, so I would have a hard time going against those. I am not sure I have ever had any trail runners though, and so maybe I need to branch out a bit.
IT really depends on where you are, and I have had those times when an axe or even a gun was necessary or essential, well, maybe not essential, at least ideally. More often than not though, food and warm clothes are up there.
