    Restaurant on the river boat

...now that's what you call real classy @killeroy154 - and something I'd love to do. The closest I ever got to something like that was the Muskoka Segwun. And then again there is my canoe - I've had lunch aboard that craft many times - usually after the portage. :)

    Thwart Bag

...really like this @killeroy, done really well. Noted that Camping Babble patch too. I'm not as sophisticated as you and I'm down right cheap (sometimes). I got mine from the surplus store for a buck. :) I'll be taking down my canoe Monday to get it ready for the August trips and I'll take a...

    Restaurant on the river boat

...yep - I've had the pleasure - I live on the Grand. We had a major flood in 1974 the prompted a massive flood control project. One of our finest on duty that day.

Parka for any kind of weather

...this is the parka that I use - good for about - 20 degrees. A Carson Canada Goose Parka usually reserved for this kind of camping -----> I use other coat protection accordingly and I never leave home without my sports umbrella. :)

    Solar lamp

These are the solar products that I am using at the moment. The luminaid on the end has a strong light that can last through the whole night. Both these products have an interesting story behind them. I have other camp lights that I use too. The goal zero product can provide power for...

    Bad weather in the camp

@happyflowerlady....your circumstance reminds me of the time my buddy and I camped at Grey Lake. It was crown land and there were no designated camp sites [no outhouses and picnic tables either]. The only place anywhere big enough to take our small tent was on a small incline on the shore. Not...

    Bad weather in the camp

Luxurious camps that have swimming pools, horseback riding and other programs are usually youth camps and private tourist camp grounds in this neck of the woods. I'm a camper camper and prefer to be as far away from that kind of stuff as possible. Looking at an RV parked beside me would be a...

    When there is no food

It has never happened to me/us. Planning prohibits the same; if anything we tend to be over supplied. Even in my novice/amateur days food was never an issue - ever. Equipment was, but never food.

    Best Way to Purify Water?

ACTUALLY? Every health agency in the country will opt for boiling. But then again...in our super advanced society [[:drowning:]] we have all kinds of devices big and small that come to our aid. REMEMBER, read the label and know exactly what your product will do and will not do to protect you...

    Fan knife

...doin a little research here - A butterfly knife, also known as a fan knife and in the Philippines as the balisong, is a folding pocket knife. Its distinction is two handles counter-rotating around the tang such that, when closed, the blade is concealed within grooves in the handles...

    Careful with the vegetation

I've never had a reason to cut a new trail and play havoc with the vegetation. It tends to be frowned upon in this neck of the woods. As a Leave No Trace camper/canoe guy I tend to leave the bush just as it is - there are plenty of trails already started and open spaces that I can portage as...

    Greetings from Ontario Canada

THANK YOU! I found it peculiar that people would take time to look at this site more than 6,000 times. I'm not sure what the interest is - but thank you all the same. :) IT'S A GREAT PLACE TO BE! :)

    Partying in the camp grounds

...it depends on where you go. In this neck of the woods Provincial and Federal Park lands are supervised. I don't say it doesn't happen but I've never experienced what you are talking about. Private parks are supervised even more so.

Snakes and insects in forest trail

...it depends where you live I suppose. Rarely do I ever see a snake and in this neck of the woods there are no poisonous species. I take the usual precautions regarding insects but have not really suffered much in that quarter either. At this time of the year black flies, mosquitoes, deer...

Do you use our have you used a Shemagh?

...I have all kinds of hunting/fishing/camping knives - in the drawer. I don't seem to get around to using them much. BUT my old Swiss Army Knife? The simple one? I use it all the time - don't go camping without it. More than enough for me. It has a tooth pick and mini tweezers too. :)...

Cook food or eat cold meals?

Not sure what traditional hiking food means but the reality is there are a whole lot of choices one can make today. This is especially true in our neck of the woods. Long gone are the days when there was only a few food choices. Name it...you can get it; from precooked to it's already to start...
