    Got Something Better?

    =====> Now about that supper @killeroy154 ... how 'bout baked potato, peaches and cream corn nibblets, baked camper's bread, with butter and Canadian Atlantic salmon? Could have some wine with that too. Comes in a box like this...

    Blah...blah...blah...

    Blah, Blah, Blah... That's the usual responsive I get when I want to talk about "Safety Issues." Ya, ya - we know this stuff. Like the time I pulled a twenty three year old guy out of the Alora Gore basin. Have you ever performed mouth to mouth on someone you knew was already dead? And as...

    "Wanna" see YOUR magnificent trails...

    Sometimes the best Trails are in our own back yard so to speak. In my neck of the woods I'm approximately two hours from one of the wonders of the world. There are well groomed trails and interesting places to visit on both sides of the United States/Canada boarder. It is a mecca of...

    "Wanna" see YOUR magnificent trails...

    =====> Where would she find a coin like that? :) I'll take it. D=Dei, G=Gratia, Regina, meaning: By the Grace of God, Queen. She has been our Queen for 65 years.

    "Wanna" see YOUR magnificent trails...

    Kakadu National Park is an enormous, biodiverse nature reserve in Australia’s Northern Territory. With terrain encompassing wetlands, rivers and sandstone escarpments, it’s home to some 2,000 plant species and wildlife from saltwater crocodiles and flat back turtles to birds. Aboriginal rock...

    DROWN PROOFING

    ANOTHER EASIER METHOD OF DROWN PROOFING IS ... tuck your knees up to your chest and lift up your arms and push the water back. What you are doing is rowing like you are in a row boat. If you have an injured leg you place the heel of the good leg above the knee and row like a boat. Both...

    DROWN PROOFING

    ...update! Two drownings in our neck of the woods over the weekend. One, a 23 year old guy NOT WEARING A LIFE JACKET, was caught in a sweeper along the river. An 8 year old boy drowned when swept over a falls. The 37 year old man with him has been charged with impaired operation of a boat...

    Packing Big and Light...

    - READY FOR CANOE TRIPS - I wanted [note that I said wanted, not needed] a light canoe tripping tent. I like to stand up and walk in without crouching down. And when it rains I want a bed sitting room instead of coffin so I can stretch out in a comfortable chair and read a good book. So this...

    A stranger in the campsite

    -----> Thank you. You must be referring to 911 Gander Newfoundland when 9,000 citizens took care of the 7,000 passengers, mostly Americans, who were forced to land during the attack?

    DROWN PROOFING

    IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN! Canadians and Americans enjoy an abundance of aquatic activities through thousands of waterfronts (ocean, lakes, rivers, and private pools) and recreational facilities. Tragically, hundreds of Canadians and Americans [and others too of course] die each year in...

    Are there wolves where you live?

    ...wolves are pack animals. The strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is the pack. If there is a lone wolf it is because he has been expelled by the group. Usually because they are hurt and not able to keep up with the pack or they have fought with the alpha male and lost.

    First Time Out 2017 ----->

    -----> Thank you; it was meant to be a planning time for the trips coming up and an opportunity to be away. Nothing special about this trip. But it wet my appetite for things to come. :)

    A stranger in the campsite

    Thanks for the reality check. It wasn't my intention to be smug. It's just really hard for me to understand the situation. To be sure we are not divorced from security issues but when I read the comments I'm not able to wrap my head around the same.

    Beware of forest fire

    Wawa. It's is a little town on the Tans Canada Highway System. I was going home to visit my folks. The rolling black smoke tumbled across the highway for days. No one was going anywhere - like - no where. You couldn't the conditions were so bad. A water bomber at work.

    A stranger in the campsite

    I don't know where you guys camp but I've never had any problems you speak of; none whatsoever. When I'm tripping I'm always been impressed by the fact that perfect strangers will come to your aid. It's a bit of a code I suppose - those of us who are out in backcountry. And wild animals? I...

    First Time Out 2017 ----->

    Fabulous weather, fabulous food and fabulous time. To celebrate the weekend I purchased that new Out Back Tent that should arrive in 10 days or so for my August canoe trip. Two Mallards have been hanging around the front of my property for days. Is this a good omen or what? We took a...
