    Canoe seat upgrade

Bring your canoe in the house with you. Throw a pillow and blanket in it, and voila be like drifting around on a placid lake at night.

    Canoe seat upgrade

Thank you. I've spent some time modifying my basement door track so I could hang my canoe, un-obstructed. I think all houses should be built with canoe storage in mind.

    Canoe seat upgrade

Little more done today. I got some more wood that I think will work. This is called "Appearance Grade" it is treated for exterior use, but my main concern was knot free, pliable, "does that sound more appropriate than supple"? ha, and cost. They had some western cedar, but it was 3 times the...

    Canoe seat upgrade

Ah let's see, the saga continues. I thought about under-cutting the back side of the outside strip, so it would cover the edge of the canoe material, and I would only need 2 pieces per gunwale. Didn't work, the spruce I was using was kiln dried and that lowers the moisture content enough that...

Conversational guide to backcountry camping kickstarter

I don't know.... seemed a little "controversial" at first about weather it was a good book or not, I do hope the author gets it published.

    A Meaning of an Obsession

I lie here in bed looking at my recent Paddlers Buyers Guide thinking to myself why am I so wrapped up in love of water and camping, and the pursuit of buying things for this passion that I never feel like I have enough time for. Then I ran across something written by Scott MacGregor of Paddling...

    Canoe seat upgrade

Wow what have I started? I ripped 4 strips about 3/4" out of a 2 x 6 spruce. Planed one down to 1/2" thick and checked to see how it was going be, eww, (head slap). I didn't think about the dip curve from bow to stern. I think if I plane it down some more I might be able to work with it. Sent...

    Camp pillow

Pillow came today. It started out a bit lumpy, but soon fluffed up nicely. It's a little longer than a loaf of bread, the loaf rye bread in the picture was a small loaf. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

    Camping with your motorcycle.

    Canoe seat upgrade

Aha! Attachment works, back again. I was going to cut a piece of 1 by something and bolt to the original aluminum bracket, then mount my seat on that cause my new seat is wider then the bracket. But I decided to remove the plastic gunwale trim and replace it with wood. I replaced the front and...

Conversational guide to backcountry camping kickstarter

Ya know, I read some field and stream magazines years ago, and they are very interesting and good entertainment. I was reading an article that talked about prime trout fishing spots on a stream that fed Fontana Lake in North Carolina, I was big into trout fishing then, so when my co-worker came...
