What does your CBabble user name mean?

Well "kille" is the first part of my last name. "Roy" is the nickname my wife bestowed upon me and "154" is my street address. It's also my Gmail address [email protected]. I know not very creative. The beaver is my totem. On outdoor base camp it's Roybrew. "Roy" is the same, and "brew"...

Are there wolves where you live?

The only wolves in these parts are at a habitat sort of zoo. Black bears are very common especially in the smokeys. Every once in a while someone gets mauled, and it has no good outcome for the bear or person. Last spring a guy and his son were hiking parts of the Appalachian trail, and his son...

    Good morning everyone!

Oops I missed this yesterday. Oh well. No 3 day weekend for the industrial gears that keep turning in the automotive industry. Well at least not in this area. Wow was it gorgeous here in east Tennessee yesterday! Middle of February and it was almost 70 degrees outside. Of course I spent my...

    Recommend a good book!

Yes A Walk in The Woods, I read that one and truly enjoyed it. The movie was good, but like most movies the book was better. I am pretty sure one of the scenes was shot here in the smokey mtns at a place called the Chimneys. It was a pretty good hike maybe a couple of miles from the road. I can...

I love that engraved paw print on your table ND. Shoot y'all got some cool stuff. I was just thinking of hooking up a couple of 6 volt flashlight batteries.

    Recommend a good book!

Thanks to both of you @Bibsoutdoors and @Northern Dancer, I was going to order a book called Lost On The Appalachian Trail and I needed another book so I could get free shipping. I forgot about Sig Olsen. I have heard of him from my Boundry Waters Journals. So I ordered The Lonely Land along...

    Cell phone signal

Gee your all's got a prettier symbol for your coast guard then we do. Ours looks like what one of my uncles had tattooed on his shoulder. Yeh realy I think my uncle Bob had the anchors away and all that stuffed tattooed on his, and a hoola dancer girl tattooed on the other that he could twist...

Do you take your camera along camping?

My wife has an old canon 25mm. It's one those old ones that you actually have to put a roll of film in it, and then send it off to have it developed so you can see what you took a picture of... it has some pretty expensive lenses with to. It does take great pictures. I use my cell phone. It...

    Cell phone signal

Fixen to go camp and fish on a remote lake that has very little to no cell signal. I am not much for going off grid. I like to be able to communicate to the outside world if I need to. I went with my brother on a remote lake one spring and it would have been impossible to get help if there was...

    Hello!

Hello and welcome 3CATTS, I grew up around Gaylord MI right below the UP and ended up in Tn. It's pretty country up there and I miss the natural lakes. The aluminum canoes will last a life time. I have a couple of canoes and enjoy both of them. In fact I am wanting another one. My wife goes out...

    Camping in the Winter

Welcome @LAbradford. I have been camping a few times in the winter. I pack heavy bedding stuff if I go when it's cold out. I have had a couple of bad trips freezing my tail end off because I wasn't prepared. I don't have the expensive high end sleeping bags like the ones you can shove in a...

    Portable camp table

I like the dishpan cut out. About like a real kitchen sink with counter top. What about mounting a burner in the table top? I know maybe make a bracket with burner attached and set it in the sink cut out when you need to cook? Hmm you's got me a thinking [emoji6]

How would you avoid theft while being around a populated campsite?

Sorry Jason76 I didn't mean to be facetious. It realy does suck when someone steals your personal stuff. I like the what theduckslayer87 said about disguising a food container. Welcome theduckslayer77.

How would you avoid theft while being around a populated campsite?

That's a great idea! Take your wife, girlfriend, or mother and leave them there to guard your vehicle. I think I'll go ask my wife if she would mind doing that for me next time I go camping. Oh if you never hear from me again it's been good y'all.

    Dangers in trail hiking

I take a walking staff when I go hiking. It is about as tall as I am, and is from a dogwood tree that grew in my yard. It comes in handy for what you mentioned about snakes and the added support for getting up or down in steep environments.
