    New coleman stove stand

A colleague gave me a stove pictured and thought that he was doing me a favour. There was no cap on the fuel tank until another guy rummaged through his "better keep it" container and found me one. I have a hunch that we have similar personalities. Do you keep your credit card locked in the...

    Know About Frost-Bite & Treatment

...a great temperature for warming up the water for swimming. We have an incredibly vast country and our weather temperatures go from the sublime to the ridiculous. It all depends on what region you live in. Sherborne Lake - one of my canoe haunts and a great place to swim. Not to worry...

    Know About Frost-Bite & Treatment

...Canada is on the metric system too. In Ontario (at least my neck of the woods) temperatures vary in the summer. I have seen it as high as 32C and last June the temp dropped to 3C while I was out canoe/camping. Admittedly I wasn't expecting that.

Do you take a grill when you go camping?

...an excellent resource is any national publication of Scout Organizations; they have the how to on just about everything camping.

Do you take a grill when you go camping?

...actually I usually take the single small grill - that is all I really need. It's terribly embarrassing to have a pack that weighs more than your canoe. I've piled rocks and made a cooking fire too and cooked over that. Don't you luv this stuff?

Do You Worry About Creatures in The Water?

...it's a human dilemma. A student asked me what I thought the greatest problem that the world faces. My immediate answer, "Humans".

Do you take a grill when you go camping?

...I have a pack grill and a base camp grill. I can hang a chicken or a roast over the fire. Oh yes...I have my Dutch oven along too for great meal preparation.

Do You Worry About Creatures in The Water?

...interesting observation and one that I hadn't thought of. We are fortunate in this neck of the woods to have an abundance of fresh water. True - humankind seem to be doing everything they can to rack and ruin the same for whatever insane reason. For us there is no sound reason to...

    Know About Frost-Bite & Treatment

@Pretorius Bernadis frostbite is a serious condition that one needs to be very much aware of especially camping in the winter (like I do). The tissue/flesh can be so frozen - like toes for example - and may need to be removed. But I bet there are other issues that you would be facing that we...

    South African campsites

----------------------------------------------------------------------------- :) No special arrangements are made for the winter other than standard shelter. Apparently the animals simply adjust to the winter season. Yep! I met Don (he was a parishioner in another parish) and I have to...

    South African campsites

..what comparable African camping experience could a Canuck (in this neck of the woods) have? Oh....ya.... I've never done it - alas it is only 45 minutes from my home on the Grand. African Lion Safari is a family-owned safari park situated in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, about 100...

Do You Worry About Creatures in The Water?

I think of bears, beavers, moose and deer...funny...the thought of hippos and crocodiles (as one might expect) would never occur to me. We have a hand full of poisonous snakes in this country - none in my neck of the woods.
