Buck 857 El Morro Knife (USA)

Niice! Plus you used the key phrase: "practicable and relevant for the situation at hand". I wouldn't carry a sledge hammer into the grocery store while food shopping so why would I bring a straight blade knife designed for the outdoors / wilderness into the same place? BTW: I was also looking...

Buck 857 El Morro Knife (USA)

Okaaay! I'll come clean. I was a volunteer fire fighter (VFF) for about 5 years in the late 1970s, up until the Board of Fire Commissions decided to combine our local VFF unit with an adjacent VFF unit. Our tactics differed to the degree where we were locking horns most of the time, so I...

Buck 857 El Morro Knife (USA)

Boy we think alike! Our three children are my wealthy relatives. They usually conspire when it comes to gift giving time. Let's seee! $240 divided by 3 = $80 apiece. Sounds reasonable :-)

Plus it can be used as a neck knife also if the situation warrants.

Buck 857 El Morro Knife (USA)

You made a great selection. In fact most attendees, at the NJ bushcraft event I posted earlier, carried the Benchmade Knives. Appears to be very popular among the hardcore outdoor enthusiasts. Glad to read about the positive experiences you had with Buck Knives, and "THANK YOU" for your many...

Just give me a shout when that time comes, then I may be able to help with some places of your interest :-)

Greetings from the Delaware River Basin!

Is the bear still in hibernation? Spring is here now :-) Time to put more meat on those bones!

Buck 857 El Morro Knife (USA)

Minor knife modification. Knife now has a retaining / extension loop for the little finger and doubles as a pullout assist.

Buck 857 El Morro Knife (USA)

Minor sheath modification. Sheath is now a dangler, plus it now has 550 paracord wrapped around.

Buck 857 (left - EDC) vs 877 (right - Tactical).

Buck 857 El Morro Knife (USA)

The Buck El Morro (right) design is almost the same as my Buck Bantam BBW folding knife (left), which has served me well over the last few years. The 2 knives are low budget versions, mainly due to the usage is occasional and light duty. I would spend reasonable money on more durable and...

Buck 857 El Morro Knife (USA)

Purchased this inexpensive straight blade knife on March 10 for $24.xx plus sales tax. Sold exclusively at Walmart. The plan is to utilize it under different conditions sometime before the middle of 2017. Progress reports to follow.

Which is better: Walking or biking on the trail?

The activity should match the trail design. Recreational sites I've visited, in most situations, will post the intended usage. Bikers yield to Hikers who yield to Equestrians on the multipurpose trails. Personally, hiking allows me to absorb the sights, sounds, and smells. Sensory levels will...

Greetings from the Delaware River Basin!

WOW! You truly LOVE the outdoors! You even work out there too :-) Same here with the shoes. Wearing Crocks pushes the extreme limit for me. 5 hours of raking? That's about 15 hours in hike time. Right? Plus no blisters?! I wouldn't want to get slapped open handed by you. Probably would hurt more...

Greetings from the Delaware River Basin!

The place where I live, work, and play. My region is not as cold as Wisconsin, plus we're only teased by an occasional smidgen of snow. The snow, which is dreaded by most people here, adds a nice color to contrast the winter grey and browns.

Back online now, at home (need to get rid that Tapatalk iPhone app - too much of a power draw). "booklet and sell it"? I'd say we would be a text version of those TV reality shows.

Greetings from the Delaware River Basin!

You're a wise man. BTW: I'm down to 20% battery level on this iPhone. I'll post later tonight after I get home. (forgot my charging cord - I'm a courier on the road). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
