    Wolf/Bear encounters?

I guess I just like to test myself. I also feel sometimes that I don't understand the way people live nowadays. The greed and waste. The forest is disappearing fast. I feel like I have to take advantage of it while its still here. It feels good to leave technology for a while.

    Wolf/Bear encounters?

Hoping to do a lot more camping then last year. Can't wait to visit my favorite spot. Didn't make it down there last year so probably gonna have to do some clearing. It's the most beautiful spot where 2 rivers intersect. Nobody ever camps there but me. Couple years ago did some survival camping...

    Hello from Maine

I would suggest bringing the right gear. I've been before with the wrong gear and been freezing all night. Not fun.

    Wolf/Bear encounters?

The winter was really bad down here too, but the deer population didn't suffer all that much surprisingly. This year I've seen a ton of deer sign. They come to my back yard and dig up leftover green beans from the garden.

    Wolf/Bear encounters?

I just have a small 12 foot fiberglass canoe. Not sure of the brand. Its been patched and painted about a thousand times over the past 10 years. but it serves me well. Yea having a nature preserve is pretty awesome but unfortunately the state has decided to clear cut half of it claiming it will...

    Wolf/Bear encounters?

I would love an alakna tent. A little out of my price range though. What do you do for heat in the eureka? Heavy sleeping bag?

What are your favorite wild edibles?

I love foraging for food. My favorite is indian cucumber. It grow all over the place in Maine. Would like to get into mushroom hunting, just need to find time to take a class. Would never take a chance on mushrooms unless I was 100% sure.

    Wolf/Bear encounters?

I build my own shelter usually. A lean-to with a tarp for a roof. I put up a plastic sheet over the opening while sleeping to trap the warmth from the fire. Stays toasty. I love building shelters, it's therapeutic for me.

    Hello from Maine

Yesterday pretty much all the snow melted. It was so nice I had to go for a hike. Makes me wanting for spring.

    Wolf/Bear encounters?

I live in bear country too. I see sign everywhere but rarely ever see one. However I always keep bear spray or a side arm just to be safe.

    Wolf/Bear encounters?

My dad was almost attacked by a black bear a few years ago. It stalked him for a few miles in the wood. It charged him so he threw his trail cam at it's face and that deterred it. Black bear attacks are extremely rare. Where I live in Maine there has never been a black bear fatality.

Are there wolves where you live?

Lots of coyotes up here in Maine too. I hear them every night in the summer. My dog actually got attacked by 3 coyotes. He managed to fight them off, but came back with a broken tail and pretty beat up. I hear they will lure dogs in and make them feel like part of the pack, then kill them.
