Not much to do with camping, but I mentioned to Northern Dancer that I liked his curved canoe seat 
		
			
		
		
	 so I started to make an upgrade style, like his. for my solo canoe 
		
			
		
		
	 this is the standard flat seat that came with it.
I had some ash wood from a tree that died in my neighbor's yard, it's a shame that all the ash trees are dieing. I started by splitting the log
		
			
		
		
	
		
			
		
		
	
		
			
		
		
	 I believe it is black ash, identifiable by the dark center. After splitting part from log it bowed to a natural curve. I don't want to have to make a steamer, so I hope I can work with the curve, somewhat. Little extra trimming 
		
			
		
		
	 I've never had to work with a natural curve like this, so excuse the pun, it is a real learning curve for me
