Five days in canoe country...

My Canoe Buddy read my pack barrel.
No lie though - "I live my LIFE on purpose!"

We checked out Buckskin Lake - the portage [that we didn't take]
would be pure hell on a day that the temperatures were in the high 80's.

Imagine? Even the Beavers gave up.

No...give me the simple trail, an easy access to place my paddle,
flat land to set up the tent, a couple of islands that you walk to
and in the evening go for a cooling swim.

All I need is water to canoe and swim, trees to shade me,
a harbour that will protect the canoes,
and a place to watch the sunsets.
Oh...and there is fabulous food, great conversation,
funny situations, excellent campfires
and yes...
quiet.

Red Pine Lake revisited with a trip to Buckskin,
hikes, and lots of lots of water stuff.

Awesome, that looked like quite a trip! Beautiful pictures.

Most of our trip ended up being high 80s low 90s and the humidity to match... I have to admit, I was kinda grumpy at some points such as trying to fall asleep between my little guys.

I like that quote, too!

Thanks - I'm looking around for a better camera and thinking more about the kinds of pictures to take.

Pictures looked great! That is a beautiful looking place. It seems to have been a very warm summer this year. Need to get those beavers a chain saw... ooh maybe not. Thank you for sharing.

The camp sites were exceptional. In the one area that we camped you could see that the Haliburton Crew had gone in and cleared the paths and cut down the the fallen and dead trees. Our summers are so short and I'm making the best of it. Planning a trip in September but at the end of August I'll be at Camp Wendake.
