We talked about Goin here for long time, but for some stupid reason we didn't till yesterday. 2 hour drive from the house, and we were at the lower parking lot. Looking south into North Carolina.

I should've wrote in who to notify incase of emergency, I thought about this further into the hike. Now we were off!

more people coming up. After some cheese on wheat crackers and raisins, we are ready to leave. This was the moment I realized that I should've wrote down who to contact incase they find our bodies crumbled up at the base of a cliff

We have done several long day hikes on the Appalachian trail and in the Smokey mtns, but this 5 mile round trip was probably the most gruesome and steepest one we've done. We hope you enjoyed this with us

Love the pics. Those ladders don't look like much fun but I'm sure they were well worth it. I grew up packing in the Smokey Mts. and it brings back a lot of memories of my youth. Thank again for the pics and I cant wait to see what you guys do next.

Thanks. We really enjoyed this hike, and we had no idea what it was like before we went. We figured it was a casual walk in the woods. I hesitated about mid way after a ladder or two, and after scaling a few rock slopes. I never done anything this extreme, and while sitting on the top I have to admit I was a little scared of the thought of the decent. But as we started down all my concerns went away. There are other trails, and we are planning to return. Good shoes that grip make all the difference.

Hiking in Chattanooga week after next.

Looking forward to seeing the photos from Chattanooga. My wife and I are talking about going to Shining Rock next summer. I do hope we can make it out that way. We recently purchased hiking poles and they help a lot on steap grades and traversing rocky terrain.

Is that Shining Rock NC near Asheville?

My wife and I drove around by looking glass falls, skinny dip falls, and others.

We made a loop around looking glass rock, (a hiking destination for people, but we didn't go) and ended up near Brevard. We then got up on the blue Ridge Parkway and drove back to Asheville. Beautiful area. I lost the pictures.

Now that's what I call an adventure.
It seems to me I saw a lot of cave like crevasses the ones suitable for bears.
Are we in bear country?
