My dogs have always been mixed breeds. My last dog was a mix between a chow and a lab, and was very faithful to me. He understood people talk and would do mostly anything I ask of him. We enjoyed walks in the woods and along the river banks. He loved trying to catch the waves as they rolled into the shore. I miss him very much. If I ever get another dog I would consider a lab or golden retriever, or another mixed breed. I like the bigger dog breeds, for company, compared to small dogs.

That is where I am too - it is either a Lab or a Golden Retriever - usually male because I like a bigger dog. I just can't stand those yapping critters. Reese barks when it is necessary but he's never a nuisance and what can I say? He's fabulous.

I did pick something up at one time. I'm not into horror or science fiction. A thoughtful person gave me a Christmas gift book by Bill Bryson's; A Walk in the Woods that I'm reading at the moment. It's about his adventures with the Appalachian Trail; funny, interesting and attention grabbing.

I am not really a horror person either although I do read some science fiction from time to time, I am currently reading Stranger in a Strange Land. Can you recommend any camping themed novels? The closest genre I can probably think of would something like a western. I also like reading history.

Dogs live for being outside, as much as mine loves lying down in bed or on the couch covered in blankets and pillows. The most excited she ever gets is when we are getting ready to walk her or bring her outside.
