Hi guys!
I just watched this documentary from National Geographic with tips on how to safely get to the other side of a flowing river. The survivalists who were part of the expedition in the documentary have instructed their companions to form groups of 3 or 4 people each and form a circular human chain while crossing the river. Part of the instruction was for the people in each group to make sure that they balance their weight while crossing the river in a slow and careful manner. The strong current of the river can knock down a person if he/she doesn't know how to balance him/herself.
They said that the purpose of the circular human chain is for the creation of a stronger force by having 3 or 4 pairs of feet crossing together rather than just one pair of feet crossing the river vulnerably. So I guess the value of "united we stand, divided we fall" applies in this kind of situation.
