Campsites for Survival - I mean really.

Sometimes if you're low on cash and want a new start, you can book a campsite for around 10 USD a night, at the low end. However, though, it might be a bit rough for fall and winter and if you're starting a new job somewhere, the gasoline to go from the campsite to the job could be a pain...

    Hi from Jason

I grew up there. Too bad about the store. It seems like they want to tear down everything of historical value - like what happened with the theater in Rogersville.

Whаt аrе thе bеnеfits оf саmping?

If hiking is involved, then camping can be an excellent way to exercise. On top of that, camping often helps with leadership skills. Regarding other things, I agree with what two of the other posters said. You can socialize, get fresh air, have an improved mood, learn how to survive, and be...

    Camping in the Winter

This might sound insane, but does anyone camp in the winter? How would someone go about it? Anyhow, I'm sure some people camp in the winter cause certain people hunt during the winter. Of course, whatever shelter they use would need to be much thicker than usual and also other gear like...

    Sleeping Bag or Cot?

A sleeping bag would be good for a camping trip but a cot is preferable for overnight guests at your home. Of course, a sleeping bag is a little bit hard on your back, but probably there are ways to get around that problem. Now, for a really long camping trip, some might prefer cots, but I...

    Carpentry Stuff

I'm wondering how much cheaper it is to make your own wooden things rather than hire someone else to do it? What are the best places to find wood and other stuff to work on projects? Do you know any YouTube channels with carpenter's tips?

How would you avoid theft while being around a populated campsite?

I'm not really sure how I would avoid theft in such a situation. I suppose the only solution would be to take your wife, girlfriend, or trusted friend along. In that case, someone would be there to watch the stuff while you leave. Note, it would be impractical to lock everything up everytime...

    Hi from Jason

I'm from Northeastern Tennessee, a place which has a lot of spectacular mountains, and is situated in an area close to Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina which have much of the same. Anyhow, my hobbies, besides hiking and camping, include jogging, playing music, and travel. I hope...

Natural Tunnel State Park, Duffield Va

I live near the area and have been to the park many times. Unfortunately I haven't camped there, but I definitely want to. However, I have camped near at parks near Elizabethton TN and Charleston WV.

    Gangwando Mountains in South Korea

Has anyone went camping there? The mountains are spectacular. They sort of remind me of mountains in Southwestern Virginia. However, the ones in Virginia seem to have more rounded tops.

    Hiking at Night

Another problem with night hiking involves animals. You have to look out for bears, snakes, and wolves. The worst might be snakes, because they're hidden in the grass and brush. Anyhow, the addition of artificial light is a help, but it's still tough to spot animals.

How much water do you take with you on the trail?

Normally I only go for two or three hour hikes in mountains behind my home. In that case, there is usually no need for water. However, it's always good to take some.
