    Hello from Virginia!

Welcome missyify. This is a great site. Little slow right now, but it becomes more active when people are not camping as much.

How would you avoid theft while being around a populated campsite?

I have been lucky at my camp sites. As far as my wallet and stuff I will cram it in a dry lock box and take with me. I will leave stove, table and the bigger stuff out, but the smaller stuff like the more expensive things like a light weight back packing chair, or a small back packing stove...

    Hello from Texas

Ha that's good. No realy I live in the north east corner of Tennessee. Up here in the hills. So how are things in Texas? I would guess it's pretty warm there. Little warm and humid here. I think we get a lot of the humidity from the Appalachian, with out them we would probably shrivel up...

    Hello from San Antonio,Texas

HI and welcome Nick, little quiet on here lately. I would guess most are camping, and enjoying the summer. It gets pretty active here after Christmas when people are getting cabin fever. Roy.

    "Wanna" see YOUR magnificent trails...

I forgot to mention you can take your horse and pets. The ponies don't mind them. You can even horse camp in the area. You would have to check on how much area there is for horse riding. I there are stables there and the balds run for miles.

    "Wanna" see YOUR magnificent trails...

Grayson Highlands State Park south west virginia. I skipped out of work early, 2 am, Saturday morning so I could get a couple of hours of sleep before we left for Grayson Highlands. Even though it's only a little over 2 hours drive , 113 miles, from home I felt sleep was essential, so we could...

    Paddle abuse

Since my last river running camping trip, and due to lack of vacation time, I have to take a break. So I am trying to repair the abuse I put on my wooden canoe paddle. I haven't seen much posted lately, so I can only assume most are camping. Enjoy and don't forget pictures. Sincerely Roy

    Introducing Scout...

Well you got yourself a camping buddy. He is a good looking dog. He doesn't quite look a year old yet. Have you had Scout in a canoe yet? Are you taking him camping with you this month? (Camp_aholic) Uncontrollable shaking when not camping.

Time to get back to work.

I was just reading an article in Canoeroots Magazine about Algonquin park. How weird. Maybe it's a sign to move to Canada where my grandfather grew up, and take up his last name of Laflamme. If you know anyone with that last name, they probably kin folk. If I moved up there, y'alls skeeters...

Time to get back to work.

Wow that does look fabulous! I was wondering how much weight it was rated for. I find awsome at how little those Kevlar canoes weigh. Make use of what ever time you can get. Most automotive industry here will work their employees 6 to 7 days a week, and that is continous through holidays or...

    My new coffee maker

On my last trip I left the coffee pot at home. Now I do luvs me coffee, maybe a little to much tho. I was trying to pack light (ha yes that's funny), so I packed this reusable coffee filter I always take a 1 quart boiling pot for rice or noodles, and I always have my 20oz coffee mug...

Time to get back to work.

@Northern Dancer I didn't know that thanks for info. If I remember correctly you said you were going to Algonquin Prov. Park. I look forward to pictures. I looked it up on Google Earth, and it's about 14.5 hour drive from where I live. Maybe one of these days I get up there to see it...

Time to get back to work.

I have a couple of questions about your canoe if you don't mind? Your prospector is probably Kevlar I'm guessing. I didn't know they put poly on those, and do they sand off the old poly before re-aplying the new? (Camp_aholic) Uncontrollable shaking when not camping.

As long as you screw anchors into ceiling joists, or rafters. I have my Mohawk solo canoe hanging in basement. (Camp_aholic) Uncontrollable shaking when not camping.

    Camp cooking

@Northern Dancer - thanks for info on the table I'll check that out. I have a cloth one that I took, but don't really want it near open flame, hot stuff or sharp objects. The shirt I got from Paddling.net site. I like canoes because you don't need a launch ramp, can be hauled on most any...
