    Sewing modifications

I used a heavy polyester coat and jacket thread, i crossed and double stiched about 3 inches up from the loop I made. I had to increase the tension conciderably because of the thick material and heavy thread. I think when wrapped around tree or other object there is less pressure on that end of...

    Hello from South Florida!

Welcome to the site. It doesn't matter what you camp in or how often you go. It's more along the line of sharing the passion for it sometimes. I do good to go twice a year. I am planning an overnight trip down a local river with my nephew for next month. That one overnight trip gives me...

    Ticks

Welcome swamp monkey. Most of the time I get them when I feel them crawling up my skin, but for the ones that are fast or courageous enough to borough into my iron tough brawny hide....Ha. That is realy a good idea keeping them incase you have symptoms.

    Sewing modifications

I purchased some hammocks straps, and when I got them it was winter time, and I didn't have time to check them out. To my dismay they had no loop sewed into opposite end of strap from ring, so I pull out the old (my wife's great grandmother's) 1917 Singer sewing machine. And voila. . I...

    Hammocks Rule

Just got my double hammock. So much wider than the single one I bought years ago. If I could only block the house out it would look like I was in a jungle.

    Wecome spring...

Wow 10! That's quite an inventory. You must have a tent for any season or occasion. I've only got 3 I had 4, but I left one under the canoe trailer when I was bugging out in a storm. Where do you store them? I have all my stuff in the basement. I haven't had any trouble with mice thanks to...

    Makeshift Hammock

I have slept in a single hammock last summer while camping. The first night it feels strange being out in the open, but once I got over it I slept like a baby. I kept trying to shift sideways instead of laying like a banana. I have just purchased a double hammock because I have read that they...

    Wecome spring...

What is the difference between a winter or summer tent? They both have to ventilate because of the body moisture. It would seem even canvas should have some ventilation or you would have ice cycles hanging on the inside, if you didn't have a heat source of course.

    Ticks

No magnifying glass. This was in the early 70's, so we played outside alot. We only got three channels on the tv, and I think I have the pair of pliers that dad used to hit the side of the tv cabinet to stop the picture from flipping. We built forts in the woods with old dead trees. I remember...

    Ticks

I never knew what ticks were until we moved to tennessee. We lived in northern Michigan and there was 7 of us kids, and we stayed outside, loved it to. Never met a tick till we moved here in east tennessee. The horror us kids had when we discovered these crawling, sucking, creeper arachnids. The...
