Well...it's New Years day and rather quiet and I'm looking for other things to do - so I'll respond to your thread. Depending where I am - I may use a "water bottle" or I bring along my Katydin filtration system to make carrying water lighter. (You would have to know that there is a water source).

What's the rationale for Camp Lighting? The technology is there and it is not expensive. That's why. At base camp [that is the drive to location] I've had motion lights for years because I find them convenient at night when there is no campfire burning. For those of you who have young children...

Over the years I've seen a lot of funny stuff - like the group that forgot their food; one group didn't bring their tents and so on. The funniest was a group who left a leader behind who was paying for lunch. Apparently he was delayed and then went to the "can". They canoed to their first site...

Like your description - good idea not having the heater burn at night even though there is a built in sensor. True - where I am I need something with fire power and the stove is the answer. Generally there are three sizes of stoves you can purchase depending on the size of your floor space.
