What is in your first aid kit?

It's great if you can do that but when we are tripping that kind of thinking could cause a life. I still strongly recommend a first aid course for anyone whether they camp or not.

What is in your first aid kit?

First Aid kits - I have three of them. [Checked each year before the summer season to assure that everything is up to date.] I have a base camp or field kit, a canoe tripping kit, and smaller one for hiking and/or for my "lost" kit. AND I have some items that are designated for my dog Reese...

    Saying goodbye to summer...

I camp every opportunity I can - next weekend is no exception. I'll be out with our Venture Group for the weekend and will only be taking the Hooligan tent as I'm only out for a couple of nights.

What is in your first aid kit?

Very....interesting. I have been examining "homing devices" or "locators" as I'm a lone canoe/camper. And first aid kits? I have the standard three plus a "lost" bag. I'll get back to you later. - "I owe I owe - it's off to work I go. :(

Best type of kayak for a newbie

Onatah - like the canoe there are so many different models and each designed with a special purpose. There are fishing, trolling, white water, sea going and others as well. Each with there own price tag I might add.

Best type of kayak for a newbie

@Onatah - In the spring especially there are kayak/canoe companies that sponsor "Come out and try us day". I've taken a picnic lunch and have done just that. It's kinda fun trying out the various craft and getting to know about the latest model. They sell everything else too - different...

    What's a Float Plan?

A wise colleague of mine pointed out that I really haven't addressed the issue of a FLOAT PLAN for canoe and boat people. :finger: IF YOU ARE CAMPING/CANOE TRIPPING OR BOATING you need one. _________________________________________________________ EVERY JURISDICTION WILL HAVE REQUIREMENTS...

Do you take your camera along camping?

:nailbiting: With the crew in the canoe directing him he finally retrieved it (the camera) from the drink and yes the photography was saved. You know...I should be replacing my camera too.

    Bannock on a Stick

It's really simple actually and surprising delicious. You can bake it in a skillet too and use it as a base for outdoor pizza. A little sauce, cheese, a dash of garlic, some pepperoni and walla a great meal or snack. I understand it originated in Scotland and was transported to the explorers...

Taking it Up Another Notch (1)

Taking it up another notch (1) For those who like to canoe and camp. You have heard about it, probably seen videos, read a book or an article and even contemplated the possibility. Well...what's stopping you from actually giving it a try? THE UNACCOMPANIED CANOE CAMP TRIP It looks...

Best type of kayak for a newbie

Reluctant to get involved in this conversation because I'm a canoe person. :( :) I've had a few canoes though and when I decided to buy a real canoe I used the experience to guide me in the purchase of a Kevlar Ultra Light Prospector. So my suggestions would be - Try (test...
