    This is camping...

Man..(or Woman) whatever is appropriate - this is camping. * Excellent protection against the elements, sufficient room to stand and roam around; sort of like a bed sitting room. Some twit put a no smoking sign on the bar at the top of my tent. Those who know my vocation will...

    Sub-Zero Camping

The coldest winter camp out that I experienced was -22 degrees Celsius or - 6 degrees Fahrenheit - that is while I was staying in a tent. We were out with a group of youth in mid winter (Thunder Bay) and staying in a cabin with a wood stove. It was -32 degrees Fahrenheit. [-35 Celsius] At...

Are you a nature lover or a survivalist?

The word survivalist has several connotations and can convey various messages. It's a word that I don't use. I'm not a survivalist. What I have done over the years is to learn how to be comfortable alone and to embrace solitude (by choice). I'm not an escapism type of mentality either but...

Wool socks for bigger boys and girls

That certainly is an interesting circumstance and one that many would not be able to comprehend. But...there is good news. Most of the mainline outfitters have just about everything one can imagine. You might start by checking our Cabela's, Bass Pro, and LL Bean (I like LL Bean personally)...

The imaginary Meeting Place of Babbling Campers

My summer reading included A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. A humorous and then again a serious view of his exploits on the celebrated Appalachian Trail. Two thousand one hundred miles seems daunting. And then I read this - The Trans Canada Trail is the world's longest network of...

    Introduction from Michigan

    Introduction from Michigan

again! I find horseback camping really intriguing; something that I've never done. Though I am a four season camper and I canoe as much as I can. "Me thinks" I have far to many threads online to support that notion so it will be pleasant to learn more from you. :)

    Heck to the Modern Pan...

HECK TO THE MODERN PAN :( I left my faithful skillet last day to trust a modern pan. My pancakes burned, the bannock balked, and the bacon tasted raw. Never again will I leave my skillet alone and blue and lost. I'll make sure it's in my pack and heck to the modern pan. :)

    Camping Tacos in a Bag...

========================================== :) Always great to see you online. I'm back at the gym/pool too. I think I might have done a bit much this summer - the ol' muscles are sore from 47 days of camping and canoeing this summer. The exercises are doing me good. (:bear: Don't let him...
