    GPS Navigation

I practice using map and compass not just for fun, but incase I happen to get out and my GPS thing dies or gets misplaced somehow. After I got my first GPS unit, my wife and I went hiking on a 6 mile loop trail in the smokeys. The trail use rarely used, so sometimes we wondered if we were still...

Have you ever willingly eaten insects?

These tobacco worms come to mind for some reason. Never realy ate one, but when someone accidentally, or at least they claimed they did, stepped on one and squished the ole green juicy guts at you, you may get caught with you mouth open. When cutting tobacco you have to grasp the stalk of the...

    Camping Sofa

I was just looking at them on line. They do look realy neat. I think it would be cool to drift the river that I normally canoe, and fish. I can tie the ole coleman cooler to so I can keep my "beer of root" root beer on ice. I am not much of an alcohol person. Yeehaw!!

    Boys Life...Mans Life...

Thanks y'all. Maybe I subscribe and give to my grandson. I have thought about getting in with the scouts in this area, but afraid I wouldn't have enough time to devote. Grandson is 7 now and reads very well.

    Snow!!!

I like looking at snow, but in east tn it doesn't last very long and then it's yuck and wet when it melts. My wife loves the winter months here because she can wear her boots and coats. I on the other hand like warmer weather because I can run outside with shorts, tee shirt and sandals. Go...

    Fire?

I bought one of those magnesium striker things last year. Haven't used it yet. I have always used wooden matches and lighters. I would probably freeze to death trying to light a fire with the magnesium thing. I need to learn to use it, or at least to see if I can start a fire with it, when I...

    Gas Camping Stove

The type of camping I do doesn't require back packing or portages, so I take my old coleman double burner. If I was going to backpack camp or portage to other lakes, then by all means I would leave the coleman stove home. The pocket rocket that you mentioned would be my first choice.

    Camping Nude

Wow I was gone for a couple of days and everyone talking about nude camping. I have never done it, but if I ever do y'all will know... it'll be the first Bigfoot sighting in years.

Post your favorite Mountain views here!

Bays Mtn park in east tn. It's with in an hours drive so this city park offers plenty of hiking trails.it also has a lake, small zoo, planetarium, and museum on top of this mtn. Kingsport city used to get their water from this lake till I think the 40's. Now it is a city park and wildlife preserve.

    Remember Those Hiking Boots

My wife buys in the men's section also. She said sometimes there is a better selection. She has trouble finding the cross trainers that she wears to the gym, she works out about 3 days a week. I got a little worried a few years ago cause she was taking a kickboxing class and enjoyed it. EW I...
