    Tea Lake Solo

...you don't have to be jealous - everyone has their own style. I just happen to take it to the next level. Canoe tripping would not allow such luxury - I'll be posting pictures of that one too. This was the first time that I watched full length movies - with popcorn and the works. It was...

    Tea Lake Solo

It's always the same... spend an hour cleaning the site of any debris; picking up bottle caps, cutting down old tower guy lines and checking out the site for widow makers and possible puddle areas. Once that is done the camp is set up. My bed sitting room includes solar power, a...

    Everything But The Kitchen Sink

...sorry, I have six - I forgot that I too have an old gas Coleman. (It's hard to believe that they still make them.)

    Everything But The Kitchen Sink

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------> :) If you use it correctly there isn't any problem just like anything else you can use. I have other stoves too including the stove/oven combination. I should not have bought that - I hardly use it. In...

First Look at Upcoming 2017 Camping Gear

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> :) I'm a lot happier, it seems, when I have less clutter in my life. You may find it strange - but I don't watch television, I select radio stations carefully - usually the...

    Everything But The Kitchen Sink

If I'm not using an open flame or a home made stove I tend to use this when tripping... This is a Primus Stove and you can purchase three sizes of fuel cans. At the end of the trip I knock off the connector and recycle the can. You cannot do that with the propane cans. Speaking of which in...

First Look at Upcoming 2017 Camping Gear

...I get the distinct impression that the manufacturers are running out of good ideas. I also note what ever they come up with are expensive items that challenge the rationale of anyone who would purchase the same. One of the better things they have come out with recently are the waterproof...

    Best Instant Tent?

"A fraction of the time"really doesn't make any difference to me. If I'm out for two or three weeks a few extra minutes isn't an issue. I sold my large 12 X 20 to a a guy in Edmonton and to take pictures of the tent I had to set it up - myself: it took me 40 minutes. So...I suppose one has to...

    Best Instant Tent?

I've learned from some camping Moms as base camp is being put up other parents take the children down to the beach, a short hike, some near by place of interest in the park, check out the washrooms, pick up the newsletters etc. etc. I don't have children though there are some adults I would...

    Best Instant Tent?

The good tents take a little more time but are really worth it. Like I've shared before...I stay away from pop up anything no matter what the manufacturer says about their product. :) My suggestion would be to team up with another mother and kinda juggle the supervision among you. Watching...

    Dealing with Mosquitos

"Don't make no difference!" At base camp I have regular fly [mosquito] swatters for my tent and kitchen shelter. I have a fold up one for tripping. Before hitting the hay I turn on the flashlight and swat them all away...then I lay me down to sleep. :) My statement on the use of sprays...

How would you avoid theft while being around a populated campsite?

The issue of security is an interesting topic of recent date - but like I've said I have not had any issues at all. I'm often surprised by the generosity and care taken by other campers for others. It's like a code in some ways - those of us who are serious campers tend to look out for one...

How would you avoid theft while being around a populated campsite?

I've never had a theft while camping - at base camp where it is most likely to occur or interior camping - though that is an entirely different matter. I've never had a campsite vandalized either. Like killerroy154 says, "out of sight, out of mind". I suppose it all has to do where you live...
