    Red Pine Lake

yep you done ruined the game. You could've dropped clues and had us figure out where you were going to be. That is a beautiful area. Sorry I'm not stalking you, I don't think, I just love maps. Some one mentioned how fortunate I was being near these rivers and mountains, but Algonquin is...

Making a toilet for sanitation in the campsite

Making a toilet for sanitation in the campsite

Oh yes the 5 gallon ole reliable thing. Another reason to have one cause when you have camp setup your bucket is empty and can be used for a loo. Just be sure to clean it real good before putting your camping stuff back in it. Eeewwe just kidding. If you do use one, make sure you mount a seat on...

Things to sit on other than Lawn Chairs?

I like the 5 gallon bucket idea. Plus the bucket can be used for collecting sticks, rocks for a fire ring, and transporting camping stuff to camp site. I have a couple that had paint in them. They would be great to carry in the canoe because the lids snap in place and are water proof. I can even...

Bugs That Annoy You While Camping & Hiking

Other than the heat, the bugs are another reason I don't camp in the hottest part of summer. Oh how I long for cooler weather and sleeping outdoors.

    Thwart Bag

I had this sort of fishing stuff in it last time I used it. Of course it was just a half day fishing trip. I better quit babbling, got to get to work on this ash log that I'm going to flatten and make table out of.

    Dangers in trail hiking

Nope. That would be it for. Good bye world. Even if it didn't bite me, I would be in a state of lala land the rest of my life.

    Restaurant on the river boat

Oh yes, I have ate lunch in my canoe while drifting the river before. We would tie our boats together and eat lunch while drifting the lazy parts of a river, and of course poke jokes at each other. But when we finished the slow drift and hit the rough water and shoals, it was break lose and...

    Restaurant on the river boat

We dream of taking a river boat cruise down the Mississippi River to Louisiana. Sitting on the deck of a river boat drinking a colored substance with a little umbrella sticking out of the glass, watching the river bank slip by and hearing the soft sipping of the paddle wheel propelling us along...

What Are The Real Dangers? How To Identify & Cope With Them

That was a good video. I've heard lots of these concerns from people around here. My wife and I have done lots of day hikes on and near the AT. We never had any problems. The only problems day hikers may have are if their vehicle gets vandalized when parked at a trail head, and getting hurt on...

    Restaurant on the river boat

We went on a dinner boat ride in Knoxville TN. It was ok. I enjoyed being on the river more than the meal. When I purchased my tandem canoe a few years back, my wife and I picked it up at the store and took it straight to that part of the river for its maiden paddling. It was Monday after Easter...

    Rain fly for hammock

Thank you all for your advice. I have purchased a mosquito net after losing some blood while napping in the yard time to invest in a good rain fly.

    The Walking Dead fans?

Ha I never thought some one would put this on camping babble. Yes it is mostly filmed in Georgia. They have a studio near Senoia south of Atlanta about 50 miles. Yeh, doesn't have much to do about camping. I don't think. I don't worry about zombies when I am camping.

    Don’t climb big trees

That's an awesome looking tree! That tree looks old enough to have lots of spirits living in it.

Camera is important in camping trips

Maybe the monkey was going to take your picture? I always take pictures especially at the campsite because it saves the date stamp, and I tease people at work about the great time. If I don't have a great time, we'll I don't want to say I lie or anything, but I might stretch it a little.

    Carrying Water

Yeh anytime my wife and I go hiking I am the designated pack mule. We keep our water bottles, wash em and refill them, and then recycle them when they won't keep water tasting good. We have done any overnight hiking trips, but we have done several day hikes. For a full day hike I'll carry around...
